Hugo Murillo (PhD student in the PlantaGo project at ULB) attended the ACTIONr summer school on biological nitrification inhibition. Below, he shares is experiences and learnings:
"During May 2025, I had the chance to attend to a ACTIONr Summer School at Larissa, Greece. ACTIONr is an EU-funded project that boosts research on better management of nitrogen in agricultural ecosystems. The project is hosted by the University of Thessaly, Greece, that holds a very good infrastructure and has a very good experience on the study of soil nitrification.
During one week, I was immerged in a high scientific level environment. I met other PhD students from all over the world that worked on similar topics and very inspiring professors, discovered new fields of research, assisted lectures on BNI studies, and even conducted a bioassay with Nitrospira multiformis!
This was a very enriching week on every level: human, scientific, personal, cultural and academic. This experience will surely increase the quality of my work at PlantaGO. The goal of this nicely organized summer school has been reached for me and, I'm sure, for every participant."
